We are saddened to share the news of the passing of Chris Gregory, physical education teacher at Goshen Middle School. He was 54.
Chris suffered a cardiac event on Saturday, Oct. 10 at home and had been hospitalized ever since.
He was a 1991 Goshen High School graduate and a much-beloved teacher and baseball, basketball, and football coach, well known to several generations of Goshen students. He received his bachelor’s degree from Northern Kentucky University and started working at Goshen in 1997. He taught middle school grades his entire career, at Spaulding before it was an elementary school and then at GMS. His decision to dedicate his entire career to his Goshen home touched hundreds of lives.
“We are stunned and devastated over the loss of our dear friend Chris,” said Goshen Middle School Principal Wendy Flynn. “Our staff is a tight-knit family and he was a key part of that. Whether he was sharing stories about his beloved grandson or dogs, or encouraging a student who thought they couldn’t run another lap, he showed up every single day with genuine joy. His absence leaves an irreplaceable void in our gym and in our hallways, but his legacy of kindness, energy, and mentorship is permanently woven into our school family. We are heartbroken by his loss, and our deepest condolences go out to his family and the generations of students he inspired.”
“This loss is heartbreaking for our Goshen family,” said Superintendent Brian Bailey. “For nearly three decades, Chris was an incredible educator and dedicated his time, talent and heart to our kids. We say “Once a Warrior, Always a Warrior” because of people like him. He will always be a part of our district legacy.”
After students return from fall break, counselors will be available at Goshen Middle School for those who may need support during this time. A trained counselor is also available to our students who are currently on their Washington D.C. trip.
