Last month, 654 individuals started, with 450 individuals fully completing the start-of-the-year parent survey, providing valuable feedback to help better serve our students and families.
Here is a summary of what respondents had to say.
What We Are Doing Well
We are encouraged by the strong engagement and positive start to the school year reported by many families.
High engagement: 81% of respondents attended at least one open house event
Staying connected: 91% felt the district kept them well-informed of upcoming activities and important news
Digital comfort: 96% agreed they felt comfortable navigating our online tools (FinalForms, ProgressBook, Kinvo, etc.)
Smooth Transitions and Readiness: 91% agreed their child’s transition to a new grade went well.
Where We Can Improve
We asked for your honest feedback on how we can do better, and you provided valuable insights. We are reviewing the following concerns raised in the comments:
Open House Format: Many of you felt the open houses were overcrowded, rushed, and stressful—particularly for families with multiple children or students with special needs.
Transportation: We hear your frustration regarding inconsistent bus routes, drop-off errors, and long pick-up lines. Generally, these sort themselves out after the first couple of weeks, but we continue to look for ways to improve.
Communication Streamlining: While you feel informed, many parents noted a sense of "communication overload" and fatigue from navigating too many different platforms.
Moving Forward
The Goshen administrative team has reviewed all of the survey results and is already looking at ways to improve.
We appreciate everyone who took the time to take the survey and to share their thoughts. Whether it was a compliment or a critique, every piece of feedback helps us build a better district
