The CDC and the Ohio Department of Health have updated isolation and quarantine guidelines effective December 31st and we have updated school policies to reflect them.  The following flowchart reflects those changes and a more detailed description follows.  The full chart can be viewed here.

  • Stay home for 5 days from when symptoms started or 5 days from the positive test date if you were asymptomatic
  • Stay away from people as much as possible (including members of your own household)
  • If you can’t stay away from other people, wear a three-layer (or better) mask

    • Yes: Stay home until your fever is gone and other symptoms are better. Wear a mask for the next 5 days.

What to do if you were exposed AT HOME to someone with COVID-19 and your vaccines ARE up-to-date:

  • Wear a mask around others for 10 days from your last exposure.
  • Recommended to test on day 5.
  • If you develop symptoms or test positive, stay home.

What to do if you were exposed AT HOME to someone with COVID-19 and your vaccines ARE NOT up to date:

  • Stay home for 5 days after your last exposure.
  • Recommend to test on day 5.
  • Wear a mask around others for the next 5 days.
  • If you develop symptoms or test positive, stay home.

What to do  if you are exposed AT SCHOOL:

The “Mask to Stay – Test to Play” guidelines are designed to help keep students in school and reduce long-term quarantines out of school. These guidelines are optional, and parents may choose to follow standard quarantine rules.  These guidelines only apply to students who were exposed within the school setting.

MASK TO STAY

Direct contacts, regardless of vaccination or masking status, who were exposed to Covid from INSIDE the school setting - are no longer required to follow standard quarantine rules* and may remain in school if the following criteria are met:

  • Wear a mask to school for 10 days from the exposure.
  • Parent(s) monitor the child’s symptoms at home.
  • Exposed person isolates if symptomatic.
  • Isolate and get tested if they start to experience symptoms associated with COVID-19 (regardless of level of severity.
  • Testing on day 5 after exposure is recommended.

TEST TO PLAY

Those who have been exposed to Covid and participating in school-sponsored extracurricular activities who are asymptomatic can continue to participate in school activities if they:

  • Test as soon as they are notified following exposure. This test must be a PCR or Rapid antigen test. The test cannot be an over-the-counter test that is entirely self-administered.
  • Wear a mask when able such as transportation, locker rooms, while sitting or standing on sidelines, and any time the mask will not interfere with breathing, the activity, or create a safety procedure for 10 days from exposure.
  • Testing again on Day 5 is recommended.
