General Safety Procedures

This plan is currently a draft, and is subject to change as required by changes to circumstances and local, state, and federal laws and regulations
 
  • While at school, based upon the CDC and Ohio Department of Health recommendations, it is strongly recommended, but not required, that students and staff wear a face covering/mask while indoors. If requirements change, we will adjust and communicate accordingly.
 
  • Due to a federal requirement for mass transit, students and staff must wear a mask on school buses. If requirements change, we will adjust as well.
  • Training of students
    • Building PBIS teams will develop a plan of student safety training that includes the following:
      • Hand washing/Utilizing hand sanitizer
      • Social distancing 
      • Mask options
      • Sneezing/Coughing into elbow
      • Building Procedures
  • Training of staff
    • August in-service days will include training on COVID safety procedures
    • Staff meetings and professional development will be held in a face to face manner with safe distancing practices followed as possible.
  • Training of families to support student health
    • Safety procedures will be provided by our school nurse to ensure student safety
  • Staff Lounge
    • Limited seating to promote social distancing 
    • Wash hands/Use hand sanitizer before and after using microwave, refrigerator or other shared appliances
    • Sanitize after each use
  • HVAC/Ventilation
    • Bipolar Needlepoint Ionization units installed on all HVAC units to kill airborne pathogens and viruses.
    • Outdoor spaces will be utilized as appropriate
    • Classroom doors will be left open to maximize airflow and reduce the number of touches to door handles
    • Maximize ventilation of classrooms through bringing in outside air.
  • Hand Sanitizing Stations
    • Available in each classroom and common areas
  • Plexiglass shields
    • Installed in high traffic areas such as the office, clinic, and cashiers
  • Signage
    • Social distancing markers will be installed in common areas
    • Reminders of how to prevent the spread of disease and safety measures
  • Ordering PPE
    • Safety equipment will be provided such as: optional masks, gloves, hand sanitizing stations, plexiglass, thermometers, etc.
