At the May 21, 2018 Board of Education meeting, Stephanie Walker was hired as the principal of Goshen High School effective August 1, 2018. Mrs. Walker will be replacing Mr. Nick Inabnitt, current principal of Goshen High School, who will be starting a new blended learning opportunity for GHS students the “Ascend Academy”.
Darrell Edwards said over forty applications were submitted for the position. A committee comprised of high school staff, district level staff, and representatives of the district administrative team interviewed nine candidates in three rounds over a two week period.
“I was very impressed with Mrs. Walker,” Darrell Edwards stated. “She is a very intelligent individual with a great work ethic and a lot of energy. She certainly has the qualities needed to lead Goshen High School on a path to endless opportunities.”
Mrs. Walker comes to Goshen with a wealth of educational experience. In her previous positions, she has served students as an intervention specialist, special education supervisor, and for twelve years as a principal at three different levels and in two different districts including her current position as the principal of Wilmington High School.
“Mrs. Walker’s strengths as a leader include a strong leadership, curriculum planning, instructional practices, community relations, and relationship building. These skills will serve the students and faculty of Goshen High School in leading it to continuing the tremendous success and accomplishments that they have achieved. We look forward to her work with our staff and students”, stated Darrell Edwards, Goshen Local Schools Superintendent.
Parents, students and the staff will have the opportunity to meet Mrs. Walker at a reception in the GHS library on June 11 at 6 p.m. We look forward to seeing everyone there.
