Sue Steele- Salute to Leaders 2015 Education Award Winner

We are very proud to announce that Mrs. Sue Steele was awarded the annual Education Award at the Salute to Leaders reception at the Oasis Conference center on March 10, 2015.  The award is presented to an individual who has made a major contribution to the quality of education in a school district in Clermont County.  Goshen Local Schools and the entire community are proud and appreciative of the work Mrs. Steele has done on behalf our students and families.

Below is the description of Mrs. Steele's accomplishments as read at the Salute to Leaders reception:

As a member of the Goshen and Great Oaks boards of education, Sue Steele is known as a resounding advocate for children.

On the Great Oaks board, her 34 fellow board members were immediately drawn to her enthusiastic style.  For nine of the ten years on the Great Oaks board, Sue was in a leadership role.  Four years ago, her peers elected her vice-chair, and two years later, chair of the board.

At the same time, Sue has contributed extensively to Goshen schools, her local community and the Ohio School Boards Association.  Sue has been chair or vice-chair of the Goshen board for 11 of her 17 years on the board.  In 2009, the Goshen Chamber of Commerce named Sue Educator of the Year.

Preparing students for a life beyond school is very important to Sue.  Through her work on the Business Advisory Team, opportunities have increased for the students of Goshen.

Sue also serves on the Southwest Regional Executive Committee and the State Board of Trustees for the Ohio School Boards Association.  This year, Sue was named as one of the Ohio’s five Outstanding School Board Members.

As a board colleague recently said:  “There is not a harder-working or more committed school board member in Ohio.  She is always focused on the students and what is best for their futures.”

Sue Steele, we salute you!
