    Classroom Procedures


    Procedures are a part of life. We follow procedures for using a telephone book, boarding an airplane, approaching a traffic light, and attending a wedding. The reason we have procedures in life is so that people can function in society knowing the efficient and acceptable ways other people do things.

    There are procedures in this classroom. These procedures establish our classroom culture. Classroom Procedures benefit everyone. Following procedures will help us do our work with less confusion and thus help everyone succeed.

    Morning Routine

    1. Walk into the classroom QUIETLY.

    2. Remove jacket or coat and hang it up.

    3. Empty backpack. Hang it up.

    4. Turn in your homework.


    1. Read the agenda for the day.

    2. Be in your seat and quietly working on morning work by 8:30.

    When You Are Tardy

    1. Go to the office and sign in.

    2. Come into the room quietly, hand tardy slip to your teacher, and follow the morning routine.

    Leaving the Classroom

    1. Ask permission from the teacher before leaving the room.

    2. Proceed quietly to your destination.

    3. Return to the room quietly, so as not to disturb other students.

    End-Of-Period Class Dismissal

      1. Sit quietly in your seat until dismissed.
      2. Gather your items quickly and quietly and line up at the door.

      3. Once your teacher has dismissed you,

    Quietly proceed down the hall.


    Asking a Question

    1. Stay seated and raise your hand quietly.

    2. Wait to be called on.

    When You Need A Pencil or Paper

    1. Ask permission to leave your seat.

    2. DO NOT sharpen pencils while the teacher is up

    front teaching or leading a discussion.

    Turning In Papers

    1. In Mrs. Alexander's class there is a basket with your teacher's at the front of the room. Turn in homework there.

    2. Mrs. Johnson also has baskets in her room for papers.

    3. Hand in papers done in class to the same place, unless otherwise advised.


    Responding to Request for Attention

    Teacher will count Backwards from

    5. Eyes on speaker.

    4. Get Quiet

    3. Be Still.

    2. Hands Free (put things down)

    1. Listen

    Missing Assignments

    1. At the end of the week, all missing work will be in your folder up front.

    2. Collect your missing work and make it up over the weekend.

    3. Turn in missing work and parent’s signature on Monday morning.


    When You Are Absent

    1. Someone will keep your work for you when you miss a day.

    2. This work will be put in your folder at the front of the room.

    3. Check your absentee folder when you return.

    4. Look over the work to make sure that you understand it.

    5. Double check with your teachers to make sure that

    you have everything you missed.

    1. Put your work, and all necessary books, into your backpack.

    2. For each day that you are absent, you will have one day to make up your missing work.

    When We Have a Visitor

    1. Be respectful to our guest.

    2. Continue working quietly, raising your hands to ask questions.

    3. Do Not jump up and run to the guest or yell out.

    When the Office Calls

    1. If the room is working quietly, continue this.

    2. If there is group work going on, please stop talking so that the teacher can hear what she needs to do.

    Working Cooperatively

    1. Stay with your group.

    2. Everyone should take part in the group work.

    3. If you are having problems, see the teacher and tell her.

      Emergency Alert

      1. Line up quickly and in a single line.

      2. File out of the room in single file.

      3. Follow the room next to you. Do not join their class or cut in front of them.

      4. Last person out, shut the door. Lights out for fire drill.

    5. Lights stay on for a tornado drill.

    6. Stay quiet and follow directions by your teacher or another adult in charge.


    Hallway Procedure

    1. Arms folded or at your sides.

    2. Voices silent.

    3. Face front.

    4. Stand/Walk behind the person in front of you.

    5. Stay on the red line/right side of the hallway.

    BE A SELF MANAGER!!


    Switching Procedure

    1. Check the board and make sure you have EVERYTHING you need.

    2. Line up quietly and quickly.

    3. Go to the hallway and wait for the other class to file out of their room.

    4. Go in quietly, sit in your seat, and be prepared to work.

    End of Day Dismissal

    1. 3:10, agendas on your desk.

    2. Fill out completely.

    3. Wait for agenda checker to come around and put a star on the agenda.

    4. Go to your cubbie.

    5. Gather jacket, bookbag, and materials, quickly and quietly.

    6. Return to your seat.

    7. Pack up.

    8. Put your chair up.

    9. Stand behind your desk and wait quietly for announcements.


    Classroom Rules

    1. Follow directions the first time they are given.

    2. Raise your hand for permission to speak or to leave the room.

    3. Keep hands, feet, and all objects to yourself.

    4. No Cussing or using profanity.

    5. No put-downs or bullying.

    6. Keep hands out of other peoples’ desks.

    CONSEQUENCES

    1. Chewing Gum= dispose of gum/ Behavior Check

    2. Turn in sloppy work= Redo the work

    3. Walk into the room noisily= Re-enter correctly

    4. Forget textbook or supplies= Do without for the class/ Behavior Check

    5. Forget to get agenda signed= 2nd time = behavior check

    6. Disturbing the class= Time out / Behavior Check

    7. Running to get in line/pushing/shoving/cutting= Last to leave the room/Behavior Check


    1 Check = Warning

    2 Checks = Loss of Friday Reward Recess

    3 Checks = Lose first 10 minutes of recess each day for the rest of the week

    4 Checks = Loss of entire recess for the rest of the week

    5 Checks = Phone Call to Parents

    6 Checks = Demerit
