Tour of the Spaulding Music Room

The music room in Spaulding Elementary is shared by myself and Mrs. Mirus, who teaches 4th and 5th grade music and 5th grade band in this building.

As you can see in the picture to the left, the room has built in risers.

The classroom has instrument lockers to store instruments for the 5th graders, and also to store the smaller instruments that are used with my 3rd graders to build a strong musical foundation.

In music, each class works to earn 4 music notes for good behavior. They get one for each of the following good behaviors as a class:

    1. Coming in quietly and finding their seats
    2. Participating in class
    3. Listening and following instructions throughout class
    4. Lining up safely and quietly

Our goal is four music notes because most of the time in music, a measure is a group of 4 beats. If a class gets all 4 music notes, they earn a sticker for the chart. When the class gets 8 stickers, they will have the opportunity for a music fun day during their next music class. On these music fun days, the students will get to pick from a few music games, and we will sing their favorite songs.
