    Spelling List

Spelling words can be a challenge. My goal for spelling is not that children simply memorize the words for a weekly test, but that they recognize word patterns and apply rules that will transfer to their own writing. Therefore, I wish for students/families to choose their method(s) of learning the words. For students that learn words by writing or typing the words, you could jazz up this routine by using fancy fonts or using colored pencils/pens/crayons to practice the words. Websites with games such as www.spellingcity.com (personal favorite) can help students as they work on the words each week. A spelling list will come home on Friday for the following week and extra copies are always available, but the words are also available below for your convenience.
