The music room at Marr/Cook Elementary is very spacious, which is great for my classes to be able to dance and move around the room as they learn about music. Students have assigned seats on the floor, on colored mats.

On the front wall of the classroom, there is a board labeled "Noting Good Behavior!" During each class period, we track how well we are following the "Warrior Way" as a class by adding music notes for the following good behaviors:
1. Taking care of self and others
2. Taking care of environment
3. Making good choices
4. Always doing our best
We talked about the meaning of each of these during our first music class this year. The students are working to fill up a measure of music with notes (the measure needs 4 notes to complete it). If they accomplish this task, the class earns a sticker, which is placed on a chart with their teacher's name on the board. When the class earns 8 stickers, they will get to have a "Music Fun Day" during the next week, where they will play music games and sing their favorite songs.
The back wall of the classroom has 2 bulletin boards that are also used in class.

Kindergarten parents may have noticed their students coming home with stamps on their hands like the one on the left. These stamps are a way for me to communicate with the teacher, telling them who did a great job in music class. If the student behaves and listens throughout music class, they earn the stamp.
