    Language Arts

    This week in Language Arts we will read Cactus Hotel by Brenda Guiberson. This selection presents the 200 year life cycle of a saguaro cactus in the Sonoran desert. The author describes how other plants and animals benefit from the saguaro cactus and gives detailed facts about the fragile ecosystem. Vocabulary words for the selection include (1)


    Math

    In Math we will finish our unit on fractions. We will have a test on Wednesday. We will also begin multiplying two and three digits numbers by a single digit.

    Writing/Grammar/Handwriting

    In Writing we will be taking our Spring writing diagnostic test. We will also begin a poetry unit.

    Spelling

    In Spelling we will review of all word wall words learned this year. Please remember that your child will need to be able to spell the word as well as identify if the word is misspelled in the context of a sentence. This list has been sent home and can also be found on our classroom webpage under "Spelling".

    Social Studies and Science

    In Social Studies we will begin our economics unit. Students will look at earning, spending, and saving money. In Science we will begin our unit on animals. We will begin by looking at life cycles of animals and examine how animals meet their needs.
