This site is used every other Monday in class (and can be used at home, as long as students remember their login and password) to refreshen their science knowledge. This can also give parents a glimpse of what kinds of questions are on the OAA's!

What are we doing in 8th Grade Science? As always, to look at grades, check homework assignments, and when tests and quizzes are going to be given, check Progress Book.
Week of 4/30/12 -
As we enter one of the most important weeks of the school year (OAA testing), please first allow me to applaud the 8th graders on their extreme dedication to the review for the Science OAA. I knew the competition would be fierce and it is living up to it's hype! Students will be completing the Reading OAA on Monday, Math OAA on Wednesday, and the most important - the Science OAA on Thursday. Interim grades are due tomorrow (May 1st) by 11:59pm, so the OAA competition points (100 possible points) will NOT be included in this grade. Please expect interim reports on Friday. We will be having competitions on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in final preparation for the OAA on Thursday. Friday, students will be introduced to Topographic Mapping as we begin our culminating project - the Golf Courses! Including the OAA Review Competition (100pts), we have 240pts. left in the quarter - 100pts. for the Golf Courses and 4 weeks worth of First Fives (40pts. total).Graded Assignments this week:
Week of 4/23/12 -
We will continue working on an extensive review for the upcoming 8th grade science OAA (May 3rd). Since 6th and 7th grade is completing their OAA testing this week, classes are extremely short (~25 minutes). This results in short competitions.Graded Assignments this week:
Week of 4/16/12 -
We will continue working on an extensive review for the upcoming 8th grade science OAA (May 3rd). Students are doing very well in their participation with this review. Making a competition out of it (with rewards for highest finishers) is helping tremendously! A reminder to send an excuse note if your child is absent, as they earn attendance points for this competition as well. We will be doing this competition through May 2nd. At this time, a grade will be entered (100pts.). If you have any questions, please do not hesitiate to contact me. Enjoy the week and the great weather!Graded Assignments this week:

Welcome to the final 9 weeks of the school year. Students will be busy this week learning about the three types of plate boundaries, the landforms they create, and what causes the sea floor to spread outward and continuously be recycled. We will be reviewing the Earth's Interior with a discussion on Monday, completing a Graham Cracker Crust Lab on Tuesday, a Sea Floor Spreading Lab on Wednesday, and wrapping it all up with review videos on Thursday. The labs will require an extensive amount of teacher assistance, therefore will not be entered as "official" grades.Graded Assignments this week:
