The tenth grade year is critical in the success of every student at Goshen High School and the district overall, since it is the year that students are first tested by the Ohio Graduation Test (OGT). As students in English 10, tenth graders will prepare for both the Reading and the Writing OGT tests. Here you will find links to the "Vocab Rock" page which has song units that focus on SAT & ACT prep words which will also help students prepare for possible OGT vocabulary, as well as beginning to prepare them for college entrance tests they will begin taking during the second half of junior year.
During the fourth quarter in my English 10 class, students will be reading one of four books in literature circles (small cooperative learning groups, kind of like book clubs). We will be focusing on the common trait of struggle in those books as we read.
In addition, there is an optional book project for the fourth quarter that can earn students up to an extra three percentage points (3%) added to their quarter grade at the end of the grading period. I have attached a copy of that project below. Please notice the due date of Thursday May 22nd. This due date is firm, and no projects will be accepted after this date, due to the extra-credit nature of the assignment.

The following
website will help you in making a crossword puzzle, if you choose that option for your extra credit book project. Be sure to print off a blank copy and a "answer key" copy of your puzzle once you have completed that mini-project.
