    Mrs. McCarthy's background

This is my tenth year at Goshen High School. I received my Masters degree in Library Science at Louisiana State University in 1985 and my bachelor's degree in education at Lindenwood College in 1975. I have worked in university, public and school libraries as a reference librarian and was actively involved in teaching users how to use the automated library systems.

My main objective at GHS is to assist students to become better researchers on the internet and to promote reading. I read and review young adult books for ROYAL (Reviewers of Young Adult Literature), a Cincinnati Library Group organization.

I promote the use of INFOHIO to locate newspaper and magazine articles, encyclopedias, and specialized indexes. User name and password to use Infohio at home are available in the Library Media Center. In fact I am such an advocate of INFOHIO, I have an Infohio tattoo but I don't tell where.

I was raised in Cincinnati and have lived here most of my life. I am married and have two grown children. We also have a golden retriever named Maggie. I am an avid reader and the Goshen HS students can't believe I read two to five books a week. I see it as "so many books, so little time." Reading is so important, try to read a little each day.

I can be reached by email, mccarthyn@goshenlocalschools.org or by phone 722-2227 ext. 2028.
