    English 11 Syllabus

    Course Overview: The purpose of this course is to prepare students for twelfth grade English and college level writing, vocabulary, research, literature, and independent reading. This course covers all nine standards in the State of Ohio content standards with an emphasis on Reading of Literary Text and the Writing Process. The class is one year long, and a maximum of one English credit may be earned, .5 credit will be earned per semester. Graded work is given back to students in the hanging files at the back of the room (organized by period number).

    Grades: Grades are earned by participation, timely completion of work, and accuracy of work. Point values are given for all assignments. If you are caught cheating or plagiarizing on any assignment (tests, class work, projects, or research papers), YOU WILL BE GIVEN A ZERO!

    Work Policy: For make-up work policy, please see the student handbook. I expect work to be handed in promptly.
    Bonus bell is available on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings for completion of missing work and/or missing tests and quizzes.

    Test Makeup: Within one week of the original test, or no credit will be given. Exceptions will be made for long- term illnesses. Tests will be made up during silent reading time on Fridays in class or during bonus bells on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays.
