It is the goal of Goshen Local Schools to serve all students through a free and public education (FAPE). Special education services are available to all eligible children in the Goshen Local School District, beginning at age three and extending through age 21. The Preschool Handicapped Program is housed at the Marr/Cook Elementary and serves about 24 children ages three to five. A full range of special education services are also available throughout the district for grades K through 12 to meet the unique needs of each student with a classified disability. Goshen Local Schools provides a full inclusion setting for most students with adequate support from Intervention Specialists. Resourse rooms are also available for small group and individual instruction. We also house Multiple Disability Units for grades K through 8 and Autism Units for grades K - 5. Questions about our programs can be directed to kruegerm@goshenlocalschools.org.

To receive special education services, a student must be evaluated and qualify for any of the following 13 categories defined by the federal government: Autism, Cognitive Disability, Deaf-Blindness, Deafness (Hearing Impairment), Emotional Disturbance, Multiple Disabilities, Orthopedic Impairment, Other Health Impaired (Major), Other Health Impaired (Minor), Specific Learning Disability, Speech/Language, Traumatic Brain Injury, Visual Impairment.

The Goshen Local School District values each learner's uniqueness and potential. Educators in our district are committed to joining parents in understanding and supporting learners. Presently, our school system supports approximately 450 students who have been determined eligible for special education support services.
